Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) is appraised as the greatest master in western art history. By introducing the precious dessin that Da Vinci himself left, oil paintings of Mona Lisa Nude by his followers gLeonardeschih which were influenced by Da Vinci, as well as numerous works that will be introduced for the first time in Japan . The exhibition will trace the genealogy of gAestheticsh which Leonardo Da Vinci pursued his entire life.

The woodblock prints of Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) will be featured. It was the post Taisho era when Yoshida started producing woodblock prints. He had already established his position in the world of Western-style painting then. By his perfected training, he reached the point of creating works that are still overwhelmingly popular today. |

The 10th exhibition of the series of exhibitions introducing the contemporary artists who are active in Fukuoka with a solo exhibition style will introduce SUZUKI Atsushi. Suzuki started releasing contemporary artworks of installations and performances from 1995, and video artworks from around 2000. In recent years; he has been energetically making photo artworks. The poignant theme of these works which subject matters are based on unpretentious daily objects can be felt; furthermore it is somewhat redolent with a sense of humor.
His newest works are scheduled to be released at this exhibition. |

The Paintings of the Joseon Dynasty

The paintings of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) from our neighboring country of Korea will be introduced. Depending on the artists and the usage, the various painting subjects and methods vary, such as painting as a hobby of literary men, Buddhist painting for temples and ceremonies, portraits and folding screen painting as interior decoration.
We will exhibit approximately 20 works from the Fukuoka City Museum and the Fukuoka Art Museum collections.

The Masterpieces of the New Year

The New Year is the beginning of spring filled with expectation that spring will soon arrive even though outside is still cold. With the work, gLin Hejing, the famous Chinese poeth uses plum blossoms as subject matter because they bloom sensing the arrival of early spring. A Tea bowl, known as gSawarabih Mino ware , Kuro-oribe type, natural vitality can be felt.
