Invitation to the Fukuoka Museum Week - Event Information

The seven institutions: the Fukuoka City Museum, Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, Fukuoka City Archeological Center, gHakata-machiyah Furusato-kan, the OH Sadaharu Baseball Museum, Hakata Traditional Craft and Design Museum, Museum of Kyushu Sangyo University and Seinan Gakuin University Museum will hold a variety of events to commemorate the gInternational Museum Dayh (May 18).
Along with a Stamp Rally and free admission to the Permanent Collection Galleries, lectures, backyard tours and gallery tours are scheduled to be held at each institution.
Period: May 18 (Sat) - May 26 (Sun), 2013
*Closed on Mondays: the Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, Fukuoka City Archeological center, OH Sadaharu Baseball Museum, Museum of Kyushu Sangyo University. Closed on Wednesdays: the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Hakata Traditional Craft and Design Museum. Closed on Sundays: Seinan Gakuin University Museum. gHakata-machiyah Furusato-kan is open year around.

1.Stamp Rally
If you collect two stamps from the any of the ten institutions, wonderful prizes by drawing will be presented such as pair tickets to the special exhibition at the above art museums & the museum, a voucher at Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk Hotel, pair tickets to the Fukuoka Tower and many others!! There are special benefits for all Stamp Rally Participants, by presenting the stamp form with more than one stamp on it, you will receive a discount for the Fukuoka Tower and 10% discount to the Atrium Restaurant, gSealabuffeth on the 4 th floor of the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk Hotel.

2. All the admission tickets to the Permanent Collection Galleries are free of charge.
During the period of the Museum Week, the admission is free to the Permanent Collection Galleries to the Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka City Museum, Asian Art Museum and the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art and admission is free to the Hakata-machiya Furusato-kan, Museum of Kyushu Sangyo University. By presenting the Flier, admission fee is discounted to the OH Sadaharu Baseball Museum. (Fukuoka City Archeological Center, Hakata Traditional Craft and Design Museum, Seinan Gakuin University Museum is free of charge at all times)

5.Architecture Tour
This is the architecture tour of the museum in its entirety. We will introduce you to the backside of the museum where you usually do not have opportunity to see.

6.Gallery Tour
On daily basis, our volunteer guide will introduce you to three artworks selected from the Permanent Collection Exhibits.

Notice for the Loan of the Work, gThe Madonna of Port Lligath by Salvador Dali

Our museum collection of the work, gThe Madonna of Port Lligath by Salvador Dali will be loaned out to Mori Art Museum, Tokyo for the exhibition, gLOVEh held from April 26 till September 1, 2013; thus, it will not be exhibited at our Permanent Collection Gallery during the period of April 16 -September 30, 2013.

Notice on opening of gIkoi no Terraceh

A repose space, gIkoi no Terraceh has been newly opened on the second floor terrace entered from Ohori Park. It is an open space which can freely be used by museum goers, as well as for the general public.
The design and its construction project were carried out by the artist Mr. Yoshihiko Kawahara. The design, which matches the exterior of the museum and the rich environment of greenery around Ohori Park, and the warm materials are such as the natural wood of the camphor tree, is based on the concept of creating a relaxing space where a wide range from children to seniors can rest and relax.

Carried-in food is allowed, and the museum restaurant will start a take-out drink service as of April 5. (No alcohol and no smoking allowed).

Open hours:9:30 am |17:30 pm
*opened until 19:30pm for July and August except Sunday and Holidays.
Closed Days:Every Monday and from December 28 to January 4.
*Should Monday fall on a holiday, the first following week day will be closed.

The museum will commence gallery tours intended for children, conducted by volunteers on the second Saturdays and the second Sundays of every month. The volunteers will guide children through the world of joyous art by introducing the museum permanent collection. Please participate with your family members!

Date:The second Saturday and the second Sunday of every month excluding August.
Time:From 2:00pm for approximately 1 hour.
Assemble place:In front of the information counter on the first floor.

How to apply:No prior application is needed.
Fee:Free of charge for middle and primary school students and under. Admission fee for all permanent collection galleries is needed for high school students and above.(200yen for Adults, 150yen for College & High School students)

–Tours will be conducted in Japanese language.
