On the 2nd floor of the Fukuoka Art Museum, there is a play space named “Seeds of Life,” where small children and their parents/guardians can relax. It was created by the artist Ohgi Kanae.
In this space, children can not only relax and read picture books on tatami mats but also enjoy playing with artworks that they can take down from the walls. These artworks feature paintings and sculptures housed by the museum. The paintings on the walls are based on the surrounding areas of the museum, Ohori Park and the city of Fukuoka. This space was designed as a bridge between the city of Fukuoka and the galleries of the museum.
The museum staff and the artist named this play space “Seeds of Life” in the hope that the place would provide an environment where small children can grow a seed of art in their heart.
The Baby Station, a nursing room for both male and female parents and guardians, and a nursing room for female parents and guardians only are available in the play space.
