This exhibition introduces a large number of wooden sculptures passed down in Tokoin Temple in the Yoshizuka district of Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, including Seated Bhaisajyaguru (Important Cultural Property). (Some pieces are rotated during the exhibition.)

Mounting a painting or calligraphy work in the form of hanging scroll, handscroll, or others by using materials like paper and cloth is called hyōgu, which plays an essential role in Japanese art. This exhibition introduces the basics of hyōgu through masterpieces from the Matsunaga Collection.

The Tales of Genji, written by Murasaki Shikibu, has long been cherished as a symbol of the splendid aristocratic culture of the Heian period. This exhibition displays paintings and crafts associated with the Tales of Genji and Murasaki Shikibu.
